The third module is an exploration of keys for stilling the fluctuations of the mind through techniques of guided meditation (yoga-nidra), and the integration of guided meditation into asana classes and workshops. This module includes developing yoga nidra scripts and practice teaching a 'Cosmic Flow' class.

MODULE 4: INTELLECTUAL PRACTICES

AUGUST 28-30  |  SEPTEMBER 11-13   |  SEPTEMBER 25-27

  • Through guided practices, hands-on workshops, small group exercises, and participatory discussions, you'll be actively involved every step of the way.

* Friday evening meals are included in your tuition cost. Gluten-free diets can also be accommodated.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I sign up for this training? Expand

Click on the 'Application Form' button and then fill out the form. I'll review your application within 48 hours and then follow up with an enrollment link that will give you an opportunity to select your payment plan and reserve your spot in the training.

What style of yoga does your training teach? Expand

The Bhagavata-sevaya School of Yoga uses a Jivamukti-influenced form of Vinyasa Yoga as a baseline style for asana sequence design. The emphasis of the training is on learning principles that you can apply to any style of yoga. The program also includes specific  instruction on teaching Vinyasa Yoga, Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra, and the integration of all three into a unique class structure called 'Cosmic Flow'.

Do I need to have completed a 200-hour Teacher Training to take this course? Expand

If you want to register as an RYT-500 with Yoga Alliance then yes, having completed a 200-Hour Teacher Training is a mandatory pre-requisite. This training is oriented toward people who've been teaching yoga for some time so having teaching experience as a frame of reference will be extremely helpful. If you have a long-standing steady yoga practice, want to register with Yoga Alliance as an RYT-200 teacher, and feel ready to jump into the deep end of the yoga pool then I'll consider your application.

How much practice teaching will I do during the course of this program? Expand

A lot: the best way to learn something is to teach it to others. This program is designed for teachers to learn as much by teaching as by hearing. All of the program material will be translated into experiential learning and teaching exercises.

Can you accomodate dietary restrictions on Friday nights? Expand

Yes. All the Firday evening meals will be either vegan or vegetarian (any dairy that we use will come from cows who are lovingly protected for the entire duration of their natural lives at the Gita Nagari Yoga Farm in Port Royal, Pennsylvania). We can accommodate the need for a gluten-free diet and we'll do our best to take food allergies or other such restrictions into account. Tell me what you need and I'll tell you what we can do.

What if I'm not interested in teaching yoga but want to learn for the sake of learning? Expand

There will be plenty of advanced yoga philosophy, meditation, and asana practice in this training. However, unlike a 200-Hour introductory training, the program material is oriented toward the development of advanced teaching skills. If you're interested in deepening your knowledge and your practice but you don't intend to teach then we can talk about it and see if you'll feel as if you're going to get your money's worth from this program: see my email address below.

Can I enroll in this program if I have an injury or special condition? Expand

Yes. Please let us know what your specific challenges are in the space provided on the application form. We will ask you to check with your physician and, like all participants, you must sign a waiver stating that you are able to take the class. We all bring different physical limitations and challenges to our practice so my hope is that such challenges will help us all  learn to be of service to students with similar limitations.

If your special condition is that you're pregnant then there's a caveat: as long as your due date is after September 27, 2020. It's a 7 month-long training so if you're already expecting than the timing might not work out for you this time. If your pregnancy comes about during the course of the training, mazel tov!

What are the graduation requirements? Expand

Show up, be present, and enthusiastically participate. The only rules are 'have fun' and 'no drama'. There will be skill evaluations as well as written and oral exams but your grade is not a factor whether or not you graduate from the program.

How much does the training cost and what's your cancellation policy? Expand

Keep scrolling - the tuition costs and related policies are right below.
