1:1 Yoga Teacher Mentorship for the Teacher You Want to Become

My one-on-one mentorship is designed around your teaching, your goals, and where the right guidance could make the biggest difference.

"This mentorship really gave me the tools to rethink what I’m already doing and how to make it even better, so I can serve my students, meeting them exactly where they are."

Be Luecke - Yoga Teacher, Chicago

You know your teaching is good. And you’re ready to make it better.

You’ve done the teacher trainings. You’ve taught dozens—maybe hundreds—of classes. And along the way, you’ve started to get a pretty good sense of the teacher you want to be.

But there may still be places where your teaching isn’t quite matching that vision.

Maybe your sequences have started to feel predictable. Maybe you’re not always sure how to cue the experience you want your students to have.

Or you want to bring more yoga philosophy into your classes, but don’t feel confident enough in your understanding to teach it naturally.

Maybe you haven’t quite found a teaching voice that feels unmistakably like your own.

So you keep learning. You take another workshop. Buy another book. Save another cueing video. Maybe even consider another teacher training.

And you pick up useful things along the way.

But none of them were designed around you.

Workshops, books, videos… all of them can give you more information, ideas, and techniques. But they can’t tell you what your teaching needs most—or help you see what might be keeping you from becoming the teacher you want to be.

At a certain point, what you need isn’t necessarily more information. You need guidance that’s specific to you.

Every good teacher has their own teacher.

You need help closing the distance between the teacher you are now and the teacher you want to become.

That means having someone experienced look closely at your teaching, recognize what you’re already doing well, identify where you have room to grow, and help you focus on the things that will make the biggest difference.

That’s what mentorship is for.

Mentorship Built Around What You Need

There’s no predetermined curriculum. That’s what makes personalized mentorship so valuable.

We’ll start with where you are now, where you want to go, and what might be standing in the way.

Then I’ll join one of your online classes as a student and give you detailed feedback on my experience—what’s already working, where I see opportunities to grow, and what we might work on together.

From there, we'll create a mentorship focused on the knowledge and skills that matter most to you.

What would make the biggest difference in your teaching right now?

Your mentorship begins with an asana class feedback session, where I’ll join one of your online classes and give you detailed feedback on your teaching.

From there, you’ll choose three topics from the Mentorship Menu below.

Each of our remaining sessions will focus on one of those topics, with the content and guidance tailored specifically to your experience, your teaching, and your goals.

Your Mentorship Menu:

  • Finding Your Voice as a Yoga Teacher
  • Structuring Your Class as a Complete Yoga Experience
  • Principles and Aesthetics of Asana Sequence Design
  • Cueing Physical and Energetic Alignment
  • Using Your Voice: Invitational Language, Vocal Projection, and Tonal Variety
  • How to Compose and Lead Guided Meditations
  • Fundamentals of Yoga Philosophy
  • Integrating Yoga Philosophy into Classes and Workshops
  • Navigating the Intersection of Yoga and Religion
  • Sanskrit Pronunciation
  • How to Develop and Sell Workshops
  • Strategies for Managing Your Career as a Yoga Teacher
  • Marketing Yourself as a Yoga Teacher

By focusing on the areas where you most want to grow, we can strengthen your teaching in ways that make a real difference for you and your students.

Imagine What You Could Do With the Right Guidance

Depending on what we work on together, you might:

  • Walk into class knowing what you want your students to experience and how you’re going to get them there.
  • Create sequences that feel purposeful rather than predictable.
  • Cue with greater precision and confidence.
  • Talk about yoga philosophy without feeling like you’re borrowing someone else’s words.
  • Lead meditations that take students beyond relaxation and into a deeper experience of yoga.
  • Develop a teaching voice that feels natural and distinctly your own.
Create workshops you’re excited to teach—and know how to
  • promote them.
  • Understand what makes your teaching distinctive and communicate it more clearly.

Ultimately, you'll be better equipped to give your students a more complete experience of yoga and make the kind of difference in their lives that inspired you to teach in the first place.

Why Study With Me?

For more than 40 years, I’ve studied, practiced, and taught within the yoga wisdom tradition.

I’m an 800-hour certified Jivamukti Yoga teacher, an author of two books on yoga philosophy, and I’ve led my own 300-hour yoga teacher trainings and served as guest faculty for more YTT programs than I can count.
That experience has taught me that becoming a well-rounded yoga teacher takes more than knowing how to sequence a class—or knowing a lot about yoga philosophy. It takes a combination of knowledge, practical teaching skills, experience, self-awareness, and the confidence to bring all of those things together in a way that feels authentic to you.

My job as your mentor isn't to turn you into the kind of teacher I am.

It's to recognize the teacher you already are, help you see where you have the greatest potential to grow, and give you the knowledge, feedback, and practical guidance you need to become more fully the teacher you want to be.

Tyko BIrch

"I really loved that I could ask endless questions and that you never got tired of me doing so, and always responded generously and thoughtfully to each one."

Tyko Birch - Yoga Teacher, Denver, CO

How the Mentorship Works

1. Free 30-Minute Discovery Session

We’ll start with a conversation about where you are, what you’d like to improve, and what you want to get out of mentorship. This gives us a chance to get to know each other and determine whether working together makes sense.

2. 90-Minute Class Feedback Session

I’ll take one of your classes and share what I experienced—what I heard, saw, and felt; what I think is working particularly well; and where I see opportunities to improve.
Together, we’ll use that feedback to determine the priorities for the rest of our work.

3. Three 90-Minute Mentorship Sessions

We’ll meet online every two weeks. Each session will focus on one of the areas we’ve agreed will make the biggest difference in helping you reach your goals.

Not Sure Exactly What You Need Yet?

You don’t have to arrive with a list of everything you want to work on.

That’s part of what the Discovery Session is for.

We’ll talk about your teaching, where you feel confident, where you feel stuck, and where you’d like to go next.

If I think I can help, we’ll talk about what a mentorship designed around those goals could look like.
