Gardens are a metaphorical playground for life. We can learn many spiritual lessons through planting, tending, and harvesting flowers, medicines, and foods. Yet, many of us might not take advantage of these deeper lessons gifted to us from the plants.
Bhakti Yoga, the yoga of devotion, practiced alongside a relationship with plants, can provide us with the perfect environment for sowing the seeds of a fulfilling spiritual life. In this workshop, Hari-kirtana das and herbalist and yoga instructor Ashley Litecky Elenbaas will explore passages from ancient yoga texts, comment on their own practices of Bhakti Yoga, and will share how you can cultivate a deeper spiritual understanding of the world through working in the garden and using medicinal plants such as Tulsi, also called Holy Basil.
Ashley Litecky Elenbaas, MSc., ERYT200, RH(AHG) is a clinical herbalist, herbal educator, yoga practitioner, and is a lover of old trees and color-rich herbal infusions. She is the founding partner, director, and teacher at Sky House Herb School where she weaves together her 20 years of yoga experience with a spiritually based appreciation and understanding of plant medicines. Ashley currently sees herbal clients in her private practice, teaches year-long herbal training courses, and presents free herbal and bhakti-inspired talks on her YouTube channel, Sky House Herbs. When she is not teaching or seeing clients, she can be found playing in the woods with her husband and two young daughters, Gigi and Summer.
