Dharma Rebellion II: Resistance and Renewal

The Dharma Rebellion continues with this new 8-week live series that asks a simple question with big implications: What does a truly devotional response to today’s political and cultural realities look like?
Across eight sessions, we’ll explore bhakti-yoga as both a spiritual practice and a political philosophy with real-world implications. Each week blends teachings from yoga wisdom texts like the Bhagavad-gītā and Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam with historically proven strategies for nonviolent resistance and for preparing healthy transitions after authoritarian rule ends.
What you’ll learn:
- A clear, accessible framework for bhakti as a cultural and social paradigm beyond partisan models.
- Actionable steps linking the four pillars of dharma to effective, nonviolent resistance.
- Lessons from historical movements of moral courage—and the spiritual roots that sustained them.
- How the Vedic system of varna-dharma can inform democratic renewal, climate action, economic opportunity, and social justice in a post-authoritarian America.
- The unifying story of the Dharma Rebellion—and how to live that story now in personal and community practice.
Who this is for: Yoga teachers, students, seekers, and spiritual practitioners who want to think deeply—and act conscientiously—at the intersection of spirituality, politics, and culture.
From resisting authoritarianism to building a dharmic culture—this 8-session journey weaves yoga philosophy, history’s great resistance movements, and actionable practices for today.
If you’ve been questioning where yoga and spirituality fit into today’s political landscape, you’re not alone.
Join us to reclaim yoga’s spiritual heart from the culture wars—and take a stand for truth, compassion, and the soul of sacred politics.
Class schedule: Wednesdays at 7:00 pm ET starting October 22 through December 10.
Suggested donation for this 8-part series is $10 – $15 per class. No one turned away for lack of funds.
Recordings of all the live classes will be available for replay.

Earlier this year I ran an 8-part series called Dharma Rebellion: Bhakti Yoga’s Vision of Spiritual Resistance tracing how bhakti-yoga’s worldview engages today’s ideologies—and why yoga wisdom doesn’t fit a simple left/right frame. This new series stands on its own—no prior course required.
