Unity, Diversity, and the Concept of Krishna
I’ll be giving a talk on the concept of the inconceivable simultaneous oneness and difference of the totality of being and the source of all being. Emergence theory, quantum mechanics, and consciousness studies converge at the intersection of science and spirituality, giving rise to the idea that we are evolution itself, that we’re all one emerging consciousness evolving toward an ultimate unity. The classical metaphysics of Vedic yoga philosophy take this conclusion one step further to propose that consciousness is both an integral feature of the universe and the cause of the universe, that the ultimate spiritual reality is comprised of both unity and diversity. In this talk we’ll explore what yoga philosophy has to say about the evolution of consciousness and how Bhakti Yoga offers a comprehensive synthesis of contemporary physics and classical metaphysics.
