$350Open to the public, this weekend is an elective in Radiance Yoga’s 300-Hour Teacher Training. Dates and times are:
Friday, June 13 from 5:30-8:30pm

In this comprehensive workshop series, participants will be introduced to the Yamas and Niyamas, the foundational guidelines for a yogic lifestyle outlined in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. These principles, which encompass both ethical directives and principles of self-care, will be explored in depth to understand their relevance and application in daily life and yoga practice.
The series also includes a comparative study of the Yoga Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita, two pivotal texts in the yoga tradition. Participants will examine passages from both texts that specifically address the Yamas and Niyamas, delving into various interpretations and commentaries. This exploration will provide a broader understanding of yoga philosophy and its role in guiding ethical conduct and personal growth.
This core module will also address the practical application of these ethical principles in the context of teaching yoga. Participants will learn how the Yamas and Niyamas can inform and guide the behavior and responsibilities of a yoga teacher, both in and out of the studio. The discussion will also cover strategies for inspiring and encouraging students to practice these ethical principles in their own lives, fostering a more mindful and compassionate yoga community.
The learning tools for this module include lecture, discussion, references to relevant passages from yoga wisdom literature, visual support (slide decks), and guided practices.
