Advanced YTT Weekend Intensive

I’m honored to be a part of Gopi Sandal’s ‘Yoga With Heart’ holistic training program that’s designed to equip yoga teachers with all the progressive skills and inspiration they will need to help guide their students along the path of self-healing towards their highest good. We’ll explore deeper aspects yoga and where yoga is taking us. Participants will develop skills to compassionately guide others on many different levels. This weekend immersion will feature a complete mix of asana classes, mantra meditation, kirtan, and advanced yoga philosophy that will include:
Practical Sanskrit for Yoga Teachers
An introduction to the pronunciation, structure, cadences, and translations of essential Sanskrit words, phrases, mantras, sutras, and verses. Includes names of asana poses in relationship to their significance and key words in the lexicon of yoga philosophy.
Interweaving Threads of Yoga Philosophy
Based on the relationship between the Yoga-sutras of Patanjali and the Bhagavad-gita, this discussion will include a look at the origins of yoga, four different paths of yoga, the relationship of Yoga to Sankhya and Vedanta, yoga psychology, the intersection of yoga and religion, and the essential tension between traditional yoga and modern culture.
The Art and Science of Spiritual Activism
In a political climate where the metaphysical realm of values and moral imperatives govern the physical realm of policies and their consequences, it’s all the more important to have a clear sense of how spiritual knowledge helps us to live purpose-driven lives. Engagement with the world is an essential component of personal spiritual development. In this session, Hari-kirtana das will describe six core values of yoga and demonstrate how we can translate those values into clearly defined strategies for social engagement. Participants will gain knowledge of how universal principles of spiritual activism work, how we can imbue our activism with spiritual power, and how to maintain our equilibrium in a challenging socio-political environment.
