Wisdom Workshop: Yoga’s Inner Dynamics — Koshas and Chakras in Yoga Practice
Explore yoga’s subtle anatomy and discover how the koshas and chakras can deepen your practice and enrich your teaching.
$20
Yoga’s effects extend far beyond muscles, joints, flexibility, and strength. A single practice can leave us energized or peaceful, focused or expansive, grounded or inspired. According to the yoga wisdom tradition, these experiences are shaped not only by the physical body, but also by subtler dimensions of energy, awareness, emotion, and consciousness.
In this 90-minute on-demand workshop for yoga teachers and dedicated practitioners, we’ll explore two of yoga’s most important maps of the inner self: the koshas, the layers that provide the structure of our embodied experience, and the chakras, the subtle energy centers that influence the quality of that experience.
What You’ll Gain
Understand yoga’s subtle anatomy. Learn what the koshas and chakras are, how they relate to one another, and how they help explain yoga’s effects on physical, mental, emotional, energetic, and spiritual levels.
Go deeper into yoga philosophy. Explore the metaphysics behind the koshas and chakras, their relationship to modern psychology, and how the koshas relate to the kleshas (obstacles to yoga) and upadhis (temporary material identities).
Bring the koshas and chakras into your practice. Learn how yoga practices can purify the koshas and balance the chakras, giving you a framework for exploring your own inner experience with greater awareness.
Bring greater intention to your teaching. If you’re a yoga teacher, discover how an understanding of yoga’s inner dynamics can inform sequencing, cueing, and the energetic qualities you create within a class.
The workshop includes graphics that clearly illustrate the nuanced concepts of yoga’s subtle physiology and help make these inner dimensions easier to understand.
