Freedom Beyond Fireworks

Every July 4th, Americans celebrate Independence Day with parades, fireworks, grand displays of patriotism, and songs about how great it is to live in the USA. It’s a celebration of freedom.

And while political and social freedoms are vital, yoga wisdom offers us an even deeper, internal freedom.

Imagine waking up every day, feeling truly free, liberated from all forms of sorrow and fear, regardless of external circumstances.

This isn’t a far-fetched dream but a reality offered by the Bhagavad Gita. It tells us that, as spiritual beings, true liberation is our natural state.

However, to realize this, we have to free ourselves from the mindset that keeps us in material consciousness, the state of mis-identifying ourselves as being our material bodies.

And when our actions are guided by this spiritual knowledge, we achieve a state of liberation. This inner freedom, unlike any political freedom, is indestructible. It remains with us, fortifying our spirit as we strive to create a more just world.

This Independence Day, consider how aligning your actions with spiritual wisdom can transform your life, offering a freedom that no one can take away.
