Yoga Nidra for Yoga Teachers

Yoga Nidra, the Yoga of Mystic Slumber, is a practice of guided meditation that produces a deep state of conscious sleep through systematic relaxation, affirmation, association, and visualization. This workshop is for yoga teachers who want to learn how to offer guided meditations in classes and workshops. Participants will learn the structure of a guided meditation sequence, how the syntax of guided relaxation corresponds to the organization of the senses in our brains, how to write meditation scripts for affirmations and energy awareness based on specific themes, and how to use your voice to maximize the effect of your guided meditations. We’ll also engage in experiential learning through interactive exercises, practice teaching, and, of course, the direct experience of Yoga Nidra. Participants will gain knowledge of how Yoga Nidra works, the therapeutic benefits of Yoga Nidra, how to integrate Yoga Nidra into an asana class or workshop, how to choose (or even create!) music tracks for Yoga Nidra, and how to guide students – and themselves – into a deep meditative experience.
